Aishling Burke

Aishling graduated from Northumbria University in 2007 with a BSc in Physiotherapy.

Her career started in Kent, working within the musculoskeletal teams in Ashford and Tenterden before applying for a position in the Urogynae Team based within the east of the county. This position was the introduction into ‘women’s health’ and the division of physiotherapy that Aishling is still as passionate about today.

Treating initially women with bladder and bowel leakage, Aishling has gone on to study the treatment and management of conditions related to pelvic floor dysfunction: incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain and pelvic trauma (secondary to birth trauma/ gynaecological surgery). Over the years the need to widen her knowledge in the management of men (with issues from pelvic pain, leakage or erectile dysfunction following prostate surgery) has seen Aishling now treat many men successfully- getting them back to exercise and ‘off pads’.

Still feeling many women were left behind postnatally, Aishling introduced her Mummy Top to Toe Review 8 years ago and went on to complete further training and is now a Mummy MOT Practitioner treating mums from 6 weeks postpartum working on perineal trauma, c-section scar issues or abdominal separation (diastasis recti).

After a colleague was diagnosed with breast cancer and with no physiotherapy offered post op, Aishling did a little research and uncovered strong evidence to support the role of physio during and after breast cancer treatment. Completing the PINC and Steel  Cancer Certification training during covid in 2020 provided Aishling with additional tools to help individuals recover quickly, regain function and live for-filling lives.

Today, Aishling is based within The Tonbridge Clinic 2 days a week while she works as the Women’s Health Lead at a private hospital. Often asked to host talks and workshops on pelvic and meno health, Aishling is passionate about increasing awareness of pelvic health and the role each individual can play in their own health and well-being.
