Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability.
Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice.
Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes the patient’s general lifestyle.
At the core is the patient’s involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment.
You can benefit from physiotherapy at any time in your life. Physiotherapy helps with back pain or sudden injury, managing long-term problems, and preparation for a sporting event.
Physiotherapy is a degree-based healthcare profession. Physiotherapists use their knowledge and skills to improve a range of conditions associated with different systems of the body, such as neuro-musculoskeletal (back pain, whiplash associated disorder, sports injuries, arthritis) or neurological (stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s).
“Nicola treated me after a hip replacement. At the time I was struggling to move on from crutches. After the session I was confident to move without them, and felt I had turned a major corner. Nicola is a confident, clear, positive motivator.”

“I’ve made quite a few notes from our appointment and then even managed to walk around the lake (0.85m), something I wouldn’t have dared tackle yesterday. It helped to have such holistic therapy. Thank you.”

I have just completed five sessions with Kate Beynon, which have been literally life changing.
I initially booked to see her last December for physiotherapy for a frozen shoulder. After the first two sessions with her and after following her advice and her exercises, my shoulder was pain-free and almost fully mobile, which was fantastic.
For over 15 years, I have suffered with “chronic” back and neck pain. During those years, I’ve had various NHS physio sessions and private osteopath sessions, as well as being prescribed long-term medication by a pain clinic. None of these have been successful in alleviating my fairly constant pain, and I’ve been led to believe that I just had to learn to live with it.
My 5 sessions with Kate have totally changed that. Kate treated my shoulder in the context of my neck and back pain, and by teaching me how to change the way I view and react to this pain, the way I exercise, the way I move and lift and the way I breathe, she has taught me how I can reduce the pain in a way I never thought was possible.
Kate’s ability to question, listen to and assess me as her patient, and her generosity in sharing her knowledge of research and helpful support material, have transformed my outlook. I no longer feel resigned to a life of pain which can exhaust me and depress me, because Kate has given me the tools to drastically reduce that pain.
I cannot praise Kate as a physiotherapist highly enough.
