I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with 15 years experience working in the NHS and Private Sector.
I have vast experience working with children, adolescents, families and adults experiencing a range of difficulties: low mood and depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, phobias, OCD, trauma, stress-related difficulties, behavioural difficulties and distressed behaviour, family and relational problems. Some of these may be as a result of difficult past experiences, life adjustments and transitions or when life gets tough and overwhelming. I work in a neurodiversity affirming way.
In my NHS work with the West Kent Mental Health of Learning Disability Team I work with adults with a learning disability, mental health difficulties and/or associated physical health conditions and neurodevelopmental conditions. To ensure there is no conflict of interest I do not offer private psychological services to adults with a learning disability outside my NHS role.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic I established the clinical psychology provision at the School of Science and Technology in Maidstone where I continue to run weekly clinics.
A year long elective placement in paediatric psychology at King’s college hospital in London, deepened an area of specialist interest working with children and young people with a range of physical health conditions to enhance psychological adjustment, coping and medical treatment compliance.
I am a guest lecturer and contributor to the selection committee at the Doctoral training course in Clinical Psychology at Canterbury Christchurch University. I thoroughly enjoy being a supervisor of doctoral students (trainee clinical psychologists) completing their clinical training placements since 2010.
I am a compassionate, kind and empathetic person always nurturing the strengths and resilience of my clients. I work in collaboration with my clients to identify individual needs and hopes for therapy that are in line with and driven by clients’ values. Whether you would like to improve your well-being through guided self-discovery to build a more positive outlook of life or need support through a difficult life stage. I can provide you with space to discover valuable tools to cope with life challenges life.
I can offer a safe, supportive and reflective space in which families can consider multiple perspectives and begin to explore solutions to difficulties and make positive changes at their own pace.
I regularly work with families that experience parenting issues with all age groups, with couples experiencing relationship difficulties (including issues relating to divorce and separation) as well as impact of disability or physical or mental health difficulties in a family member.
In therapy I use an integrative approach to therapy drawing on a number of evidence-based therapies including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Narrative Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy and psychodynamic approaches.
I offer appointments at Tonbridge Clinic, usually on a Friday. I can also offer online therapy.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like more information, I would love to talk with you.
I completed my 5-year degree in psychology (BSc Hons) at Staffordshire University and Universidad de Valencia (Spain) in 1999 and subsequently I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych) at Canterbury Christchurch University in 2008.
In addition to the core clinical skills developed during the doctoral clinical training I have completed specialist CPD courses in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, narrative therapy, CBT, Narrative systemic therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).
I am registered with the following professional bodies:
“I just wanted to thank you for our last session because it helped me immensely on a day that I was struggling a lot and I wanted to give up. I didn’t thanks to you and I finished the session so much lighter and throughout the day I felt relaxed and even sleepy. I have been going out and I have been playing with my son outside. There is still a lot to do but I feel positive for the first time”
“Thank you for your email. I just wanted to say thank you again for all your support and help over the last number of months and especially for the very detailed and helpful report. It was a real pleasure getting to know you.”
“I feel that B (daughter) has benefitted hugely from the last 7 months and want to thank you for all the work you’ve put in. My relationship with her has certainly improved, and her outlook on life appears to have as well. Best wishes and thanks again.”
